In order to improve the yield rate of castings, reduce operator-related scrap, and stimulate the initiative, enthusiasm, and creativity of frontline employees, the foundry workshop organized QC group activities for frontline operators. On March 6, 2021, Changniu Machinery Co., Ltd. held its first employee quality control mobilization activity in the company conference room. A total of 21 participants attended the meeting, including company leadership, team leaders, and employees.
A QC (Quality Control) group refers to a team formed by employees working in production or operational positions, who focus on the company’s business strategy, objectives, and on-site issues. The group aims to improve quality, reduce consumption, enhance employee capability, and increase economic efficiency by applying quality management theories and methods. QC groups are an effective organizational form of mass quality management activities within enterprises and represent the integration of employees’ participation in democratic management with modern scientific management methods.
Changniu Machinery Co., Ltd. has been carrying out QC activities for many years, mainly involving management personnel, with relatively limited participation from frontline employees, meaning it has not been fully integrated at the operational level. QC activities have played a crucial role in improving casting yield. At the current stage, the company’s main objective is to reduce operator-related scrap, which requires active participation from frontline employees. This QC mobilization meeting was held precisely to help employees understand that quality improvement is closely linked to their direct involvement.
At the meeting, Assistant General Manager Yang Yuhong presented the company’s main product yield data for 2020 in the form of reports, summarized the quality loss situation of Changniu Machinery in 2020, and pointed out that reducing operator-related scrap is the primary goal of employee QC activities in 2021. He emphasized the importance of unifying thinking and ensuring “doing things right the first time.” Factory Director Wang Weiping of the foundry workshop encouraged employees to actively participate. He noted that although the current QC activity is mainly focused on the molding section, in the future all workshop employees should proactively identify quality issues in their own positions, report them actively, and form groups spontaneously to effectively control product quality.
Director Shen Jun of the Technical Quality Department pointed out that QC meetings without employee participation are merely theoretical discussions. Employees are the main force directly involved in quality issues, and on-site problems should be solved on site. All operations must strictly follow process requirements. Frontline employees also actively participated, sharing their understanding of quality control and reporting existing quality issues within the company.

Employees actively engaged in discussion during the meeting
QC groups are characterized by strong autonomy, broad participation, high-level democracy, and rigorous scientific methodology. This employee QC mobilization activity significantly enhanced workers’ enthusiasm for participation. As the first employee-focused QC activity, more scientific and standardized QC initiatives will be carried out in 2021. The development of employee QC activities will surely elevate the quality control level of Changniu Machinery Co., Ltd. to a new height in 2021.
